Northwest Rogers County firefighters were sent out to fight building fires late at night last week on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to Mat Shockley, the Fire Chief, a building used for the storage of farming equipment was destroyed first in Talala. The call came in just before 9 o’clock on Wednesday night and Collinsville Rural Fire Department firefighters assisted in controlling the blaze.
The fire on Thursday had broken out before five in the evening and was only extinguished around about 1 o’ clock the next morning according to Shockley.
Firefighters had a problem extinguishing this blaze because there was just one access point and the fire hydrant was about two miles away.
Despite the effort of three pumper tanks, vehicles, engines and the battalion of firefighters, the home was destroyed. The resident of the house escaped without injury.
To date, what started the two fires is unknown.
